By signing up for the Nordic Project you will have the chance to sing music from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Denmark together with a fun group of dedicated singers, Stämbandet, guided musically by a professional choral director who is well-versed in the Nordic repertoire, Allen Levines.
Stämbandet is a small vocal group where every voice counts, performing the lore and songs of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, and Denmark - in the native languages, sung in four or more part harmonies exploring a wide range of music, from medieval to contemporary. Levines is a composer, arranger, and choral director who has spent many years cultivating his understanding and appreciation for the rich musical traditions from the North.
Participating in the Nordic Project entails a small registration fee ($30), three rehearsals, one concert, and a commitment to learning the music (with sheet music - you will not be required to memorize the songs). No previous knowledge of Nordic music or language is required, though it of course helps.
Rehearsals will take place on Sunday evenings 7-9.30pm on April 24, May 1, May 8. The concert will be held May 14 at 7:30pm or May 15 at 4pm in the Greater Boston area. (confirmation of concert date and location forthcoming).
Signup forms are also forthcoming. But in the meantime, prepare yourself for an unforgettable AND FUN experience and spread the word.
